Oklahoma City's Finale Only Left One Real Playoff Thing To Watch

Picture the floor getting smaller by a few feet. Not literally. Functionally. That is the playoff version of Oklahoma City worth watching now.

The finale itself does not deserve much authority. Phoenix beat Oklahoma City 135-103 in a meaningless regular-season finale for both teams. The Suns were locked into seventh place in the Western Conference and did not play any starters. The Thunder had already secured the top overall seed, finished 64-18, and sat every starter except Lu Dort for the second straight game. That is not a clean stress test. It is background noise.

But one useful image survives the noise. When postseason possessions slow down, a great offense has to keep its shape after the first clean idea gets crowded. That is the watch item for Oklahoma City. Not whether this loss “said something” sweeping. Whether the Thunder offense still looks roomy once the game stops giving away easy space. If it stays organized, the top seed will feel as sturdy as it looks on paper. If it starts to feel cramped, the conversation gets more interesting fast. The finale did not settle that question. It just pointed the camera at it.
