Homecourt is not a shortcut to belief

The easy version of this Thunder story is lazy: defending champion, homecourt throughout, deep roster, move along. Fine. Now throw out the comfortable part. Oklahoma City secured homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs, and homecourt plus depth are central to the case people are making right now. But those are conditions, not a verdict. A contender does not get upgraded just because the bracket runs through its building.

Oklahoma City is also framing this postseason on its own terms rather than reliving last year's title run. Good. That is the right posture. It still leaves the harder standard standing. Does homecourt still feel like a pressure advantage when the series tightens? Does depth still feel like control when the possessions stop being generous? That is the repeat case worth taking seriously.

The banner is background noise now. The real question is narrower and meaner: whether the Thunder's setup keeps creating order once the playoffs start asking for second and third answers. If it does, belief gets sturdier. If it does not, the homecourt talk was just nice scenery.
